My Updated Skincare Routine

October 17, 2016

Hey y'all!

Last year, I did a post titled 'How I Got Rid of My Acne & How You Can Too!' and it seemed to be something that a lot of people could relate to.  Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person struggling with acne, especially while in college when most people are over that stage of their life.  It can be a little discouraging when everyone else around you has 'perfect' skin, but you're stuck with scarring and occasional flare-ups. So yes, I still get breakouts even though I'm almost twenty years old, but I'm here to update you on what I currently do to help my skin stay as clear as possible!

Philosophy "Purity" Cleanser
Clarisonic Mia 2 - (c/o Clarisonic and Her Campus Media)
Burt's Bees Acne Toner
Younique Brilliant Moisturizing Gel (no longer sold) // Clinique "Dramatically Different" Moisturizer

In the shower, I use my Clarisonic with a medium sized dot of Philosophy cleanser. I love this device because not only is it waterproof, but it's so easy to use! As someone who has sensitive skin, I feel like the sonic cleansing is gentle on my skin, but I still feel like my face is thoroughly cleansed.

Once I get out of the shower, I use my Burt's Bees Acne Toner. I recently picked this up on a whim while at Target and I didn't think I would love it as much as I do! In the past, I've skipped out on a toner because it burned my sensitive skin. But this product is gentle, and I still feel like it's doing the job. I actually really like the smell of it too!

Lastly, I go in with my moisturizer by Younique, which they no longer make unfortunately. So once I run out of this, I plan on going back to using my Clinique moisturizer. I personally don't like anything that's too heavy, because it makes my face feel gross.

Once or twice a week, I like to go in and use my Clarisonic Deep Pore Minimizing Clay Detoxifying Mask. I feel like it helps pull all of the blackheads and overall 'gunk' out of my pores. It leaves my skin feeling super clean which I love!

Above is a picture of my skin after using these products for a few weeks. As you can see, no active breakouts!! (insert cheering emoji!!!) I'm really happy with how my skin looks and I hope to see a continued improvement. I love my Clarisonic device and would recommend it to anyone! It's a great idea for a Christmas gift. If you want to purchase one of these for yourself or even for someone else, use the code HERCAMPUS for 15% off (ends 10/31/16).

September Favorites

I'm a big fan of the cult-classic candle "Volcano" by Capri Blue, but I can't always justify the price tag. While browsing the candle aisle at my local target, I found this great dupe! It comes in an adorable tin can which can be used for storing jewelry after the candle is all burned out. I've been burning it everyday because it's such a warm and cozy scent so it's just perfect for the fall!

Green primer can be a little intimidating. This one in particular has a nice thick consistency but it blends very easily. I apply it first, then do my eye makeup, and then I put on my foundation. I think by doing this, it allows it to become a little more tacky which help my liquid foundation to stay put all day.

This powder foundation has such a smooth finish. I'm obsessed! I saw some bloggers rave about it so I wanted to test it out for myself. I use it to help set my entire face. It doesn't make me look cakey at all and I really do think it helps prolong my foundation. I have shade '25 Nude Beige'.

This month, Denny has been loving a new bed / scratching post that I purchased him from Petsmart. He lays in it all the time and it seems to have stopped him from clawing the couch (insert eye rolling emoji). I just thought he was too cute not to share!

Believe it or not, this skull was a halloween decoration! It actually lights up green. I've wanted a bull skull for so long, but I haven't found one that's cute, yet still affordable. On etsy, they usually start around 75$. I was lucky enough to snap this one up for only 30$! Plus, it's not real which makes me feel a lot better too.

After recently getting about 6 inches chopped off, I wanted to switch up my shampoo / conditioner. I've always heard good things about the Ogx brand. Plus, I'm a sucker for packaging. I really like shampoos that lather and this one seems to do the trick! As for the conditioner, I bought this based on a review from one of my favorite bloggers, Mackenzie Kendall. She swears by the stuff, so I purchased it. So far, I'm loving it and I really feel like it does make my ends more moisturized.

Desert Vibes

July 6, 2016

Hey y'all!

Can you believe it's already July? It feels like this summer has just flown by. I've spent a majority of it busy babysitting and dog sitting, attempting to save up some cash before heading back to college to blow it all on some cute new outfits textbooks. Seriously, they're ridiculously expensive.

But, I recently went to the Galleria with my mother and did a little bit of damage to my "savings". I decided to pick up this fun and adorable printed one piece from Forever 21. I just love the muted colors and of course, the oh-so-trendy cactus. It's totally insta-worthy if you ask me. Unfortunately it's sold out online but I have linked a few options below that are all under $100.

I paired it with these Free People shorts that I also got while at the Galleria. They were already on sale plus there was an extra 20% off so how could I say no? I absolutely love the way their denim fits and feels. Definitely worth the splurge if you ask me.

I head back to school at the end of this month to begin practicing for recruitment. It feels like just yesterday I was preparing to rush! But I'm so excited to be on the other end of it. Check out my personal recruitment experience by clicking here.

10 of the Most Addicting Shows to Binge-Watch on Netflix

June 14, 2016

Hey y'all!

A while ago, I did a post about what to watch on Netflix. But now it's time to update that list! These shows are absolutely GREAT for those lazy binge-watching days.

1. Bob's Burgers - If you're a fan of Family Guy or anything along those lines, this show will be a good one for you! It's a cartoon family that owns its own restaurant. I really love the characters because they actually have their own personalities. Tina is my personal favorite because she's going through her awkward teenage years, and she loves boys' butts. Another great thing about this show is that you don't have to watch it in order! Just pick one and press play.

2. Hart of Dixie - Thanks to one of my room mates, she got me hooked on this show! Maybe it's because I'm in love with Alabama, but it's a good watch. A young doctor moves from New York City to a small town in Alabama that is VERY in touch with its southern roots. Needless to say, she doesn't quite fit in, but boy, does she try. Plus, there's some major eye candy in the show (George Tucker and Wade Kinsella, heck yes).

3. Parks and Recreation - While the first season isn't the greatest, I promise it gets SO much better. The show focuses on a parks and recreation department in a small town in Indiana. With the quick wit and crazy situations, it is impossible not to smile at most of the jokes they crack. Plus, 7 seasons? Sign me up for a Netflix marathon.

4. The Office - If you haven't seen this show already, what the heck is wrong with you? It is such a classic. The show is about a paper company with a not-so-bright boss that makes for the perfect amount of shenanigans. It's a 'mock-umentary' style show, so the characters will talk / make faces to the camera which makes you feel like you're actually a part of the show.

5. The League - This show is definitely for the football fans. A group of guy friends compete in a fantasy football league together. I didn't think I would like it at first, but they have quite a few funny moments that actually made me laugh out loud. It's an easy watch that you don't have to stay tuned into 24/7 to understand what's happening.

6. Breaking Bad - After finding out he has terminal cancer (don't worry -- this is in the first episode aka not a spoiler), a high school chemistry teacher decides to start making meth in order to leave behind money for his family. As the series goes on, it becomes apparent that it's not that simple.

7. Pretty Little Liars - Four girls start to receive texts and strange messages after their best friend mysteriously disappears. You definitely have to pay close attention while watching, but it's fun trying to guess who "A" is! This show has SO many episodes so it's totally great for a girls night in of binge-watching.

8. Fuller House - If you're a 90's kid, then you probably grew up watching Full House the OG. Well, this is a reunion season ( that I hope continues ) following DJ, Stephanie and Kimmy. While Danny, Jesse, Joey, Becca and others make appearances, the main focus is on the daily shenanigans of the kids now turned adult. My favorite part is that there are a TON of references from the original show.

9. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Written by the one and only Tina Fey, this show is about a young woman who grew up as a 'mole-woman' in an underground bunker. She finally is freed and she has to learn how to live in the real world of New York City. Weird? Very. Hilarious? You better believe it.

10. Gilmore Girls - I personally just started this show with my boyfriend and we love it! It's about a mother daughter duo who take on the struggles of every day life. The acting can be pretty terrible at times, but it's a sweet show with positive life lessons.
